Any.do: A Simple To-Do App for iOS

This review of Any.do is the fifth in a six-part series of productivity-app reviews. I’ve also reviewed Omnifocus 2, Peek Calendar, Cal by Any.do and Mailbox. I hope you are enjoying the series. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

Purpose & Functionality

Any.do is a simple to-do app that has won awards from organizations like Mashable, Lifehacker and Fast Company just to name a few. It syncs across devices, integrates seamlessly with its partner app, Cal, and includes a scheduled planning time as one of its differentiating features.

Rating: simplicity, usefulness, beauty and necessity

  • Simplicity. (9/10) There are quite a few simple to-do apps out there, but I would suggest that Any.do offers as much simplicity as any of its competitors.
  • Usefulness. (9/10) To-do lists and Calendars are an integral part of keeping my life organized, and Any.do does that well.
  • Beauty. (9/10) The makers of Any.do clearly made the aesthetic qualities of the app a priority. Everything seems in place. The typography, iconography and animations work together to provide a pleasing experience.
  • Necessity. (8/10) It is hard for me to quantify the need for a high-quality to-do app, but for me it is extremely important.
  • Stickiness. (7/10) I had a wonderful experience with Any.do, but I have since switched back to Omnifocus 2 because I prefer to follow the Getting Things Done methodology of organization.
