Ghost: An Alternative to WordPress for Blogging

“Oh, so are you using Wordpress for your blog?” This is a question that I have heard repeatedly over the past month, and the answer is actually “no.” I’ve been using a blogging platform called Ghost.

I first learned about Ghost when I saw the video below on Kickstarter. Ghost easily met its goal of £25,000 ($42,767.75) and raised £196,362 ($335,918.44). It has grown up a lot since last fall. Although its latest release was version .4.2 (meaning it still isn’t full-featured enough to be considered version 1), I love it. It gets all of the extras out of the way so that I can just write and post.

If you host on your own server, Ghost is free, but Ghost also offers pro services that include hosting. There are tons of options out there. Ghost isn't for everyone, but if you're interested in starting a blog, you should definitely take a look at it.
