5 Photo Apps for iPhone

Camera apps are continuously evolving, and it is increasingly hard to keep up with the best apps available. I've used a lot of photo apps over the years, and I'd like to share some of my favorites with you. Here are five of the best photo apps of 2014.

Camu

Camu is currently being featured in the Apple App Store as one of the "best new apps" and part of the "Editors' Choice." I downloaded it the other day, and I have been impressed with its simplicity and ease of use. Camu doesn't have as many manual controls as Camera+ or VSCOcam, but its simple controls and beautiful filters make it a good choice.

Camu is available to download from the Apple App Store.

Camera+

Camera+ has a been a staple camera replacement on the iPhone for years now. It was originally released over 4 years ago, but it has been periodically updated and is still one of the best camera apps in the app store.

Camera+ is available to download for iPhone or iPad from the Apple App Store.

VSCOcam

VSCOcam has been my go-to camera app for over a year. In my opinion it does the best job of combining increased control over taking photographs with impressive editing functionality (both filters and manual).

Out now for most Android 4.0+ and iOS devices, VSCO Cam® is available for FREE in the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. Utilizing our innovative processing technology, VSCO Cam yields elegant results, previously unattainable on mobile devices.

VSCOcam is available to download from the Apple App Store or from the Google Play Store.

Faded

Faded is a relatively new photo app, and so far I'm extremely impressed by its functionality. It has the potential to replace VSCOcam as my go-to camera app.

Pro Camera 7

Pro Camera 7 effectively provides a lot of technical functionality. It includes precise control, much like Camera+ and VSCOcam. I definitely consider it a viable option, but it is not my first choice.
